NEW ZEALAND championship. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, Last night. The New Zealand championship golf meeting commenced bn the Waiohiki links to-day, when the first and second rounds of the open championship, and amateur championships of Hawke's Bay wore played. The course was in splendid order, but a strong wind was blowing which kept the scoring low. E. S. Donglas 84 —84 —1(58 and T. A. Clements 89 —80 —1(59 lead in the professional, and >S. Morpeth 77—81—158, H. E. Crosse 82—82—164, Kape Taroha 84—80—164, and H. B. Lusk 91—79 170 in the amateurs. Auckland won the Williams Cup, for a 4-mon team, with a score of 340. To-morrow the third and fourth rounds of the Open Championship will be completed, and the best 32 amateur scorers will qualify for the Amateur Championship. The following are drawn to play in the medal match to-day: — A grade.—Miss Moore plays Mrs R. Abraham, Mrs Innos plays Mrs Freeth, Mrs A. Soifort plays Miss S. Watson, Mrs H. Collinson a bye. B grade.—Mrs Pavilt plays Miss A. Barnicoat, Miss Blackmore plays Miss Tnnes, Mif« O. Bott plays Mrs MaeDonnoll, Miss B. Abraham plays Mrs Warburton, Miss Cunninghame plays Miss Freeth, Miss Scanlan plays Mrs Birins, Miss H. Bott a. bye. Juniors.—Miss E. Coombs plays Mrs N. Sinclair, Miss Coombs plays Miss Pringle, Miss Saundcrson plays Mrs Raikos, Miss Fowler plays Mrs Cave, Mi ss Humphreys plays Miss Warren. All players unable to attend are requested to advise either Miss Moore (155) or Miss Blackmore (930) before 11 o'clock this morning. 'Hie following ladies have qualified to play off for middle weight championship (Mrs Fitzherbert's cup): Miss Scanlan play Miss Tunes, Miss Blackmore plays Miss Freeth, Mrs Binns plays Miss Collinson, Mrs Pavitt plays Mrs Cave. Both senior and middle weight championship rounds must ho played by September 10.
