STEAMER ON FIRE.
HUNDRED LIVES LOST. [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Monday, 1.10 a.m.) COLOMBO, Afay 29. The steamer Amiral Ponty has arrived here. A fire broke out in the Suez Canal. Many passengers, fearing that the Avholc ship Avould catch fire, jumped overboard and Avcre drowned. Altogether one hundred Avcre killed.
