(From Our Own Correspondent.)

The Councillors addressed a mooting in the Maoriland Theatre, giving an account of the work done during the period they wore in otHce. Cr Spencer opened and dwelt most of the time in clearing up, in his own way, the bath muddle. He gave an explanation of his connection therewith. 'Crs Fargher, Cussing, Carter and Gardner also spoke. There was a clear statement given by the Councillors, who claimed that they had done some good and solid work but freely owned they wore not perfection. The audience appeared to bo convinced. The Mayor said he would address the people on Tuesday night, A vote of thanks was accorded the speakers. No questions wore forthcoming. A united service was held in the Presbyterian Church to commemorate Anzac Day. The Rev. Mr Wheeldon. read from Scripture and the Rev. Mr Walke preached an eloquent sermon; suitable hymns wore sung. The Dead March was played by the organist, the audience standing. The singing of the National Anthem concluded the service.
