PROPOSED PEACE MEMORIAL.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —T have been waiting for some indication of what was likely to be done by way of a peace memorial when after the greatest war of all the ages, we may be said to be at peace with all the world. If not considered childish, or perhaps beyond the limit of means provided, or likely, what may bo said re an Eiffel tower, perhaps in miniature, but that is the idea if engineers are capable of carrying it out. The proposal is to erect in the Square of Palmerston North such a structure. The, four immense standards, one in each ot the four gardens, reaching up to a central platform spanning the railway line, on which should be built the tower, of suitable size, height, and design, making it ornamental and at the same time useful so far as convenient for wireless communication with all paifs of the Dominion, or elsewhere,. Then what so easy as to acknowledge the hand of the Almighty Hod, in bring-

ing about so desirable a peace or racking it possible by turning the tide of war. Writ large in big scrollwork letters, away up but just below the platform on either side, and clear to view from oncoming trains as to all else beside; letters not gilt, but solid brass or. copper, burnished copper for preference, the -words: "Peace Memorial erected to the Praise and Glory of God, who alone was able to deliver us from fear of our enemies.”

The wording, of course, might bo varied, but it is only right that we show our dependence on *God and bo ready to give Him till the glory, which is certainly His duo. If you can give place to this I shall be glad as it may perhaps give a start to some more feasible proposition,' —1 am, etc., “A WORKING MAX.”
