On Saturday afternoon, tvro singles in the second round of the championship were to be played, but, Mr T. Griggs withdrew lu favour of Mr .7. A. Nash. On Friday Mr Brophy beat Mr N. H. Nash in the first game of the second round of the championship. The second game was played on Saturday, and was closely contested, being a dead heat on the last head. In playing off Mr Brophj’ won by one point. A gala day is to be held in Foxton on Wednesday, 19th inst, when five rinks from Palmerston Club and one from Terraco End will go down. A Shannon rink will also be competing. It was proposed t<> play Terraco End for the Dixon Cup next Wednesday, hut owing to the Foxton fixture, this has been postponed for a week.
