AUSTRIAN REPORTS DENIED.

Perceval Gibbon states that for upwards of a fortnight a Jierco battle has pivoted on Monte San Gabrielle, whoso long saddle and high peak rise between the Gargnro Valley and Gorizia plain. Austrian communiques suggest that the attackers, were vanquished, but Cadorna, relieving his brigades with ever new drafts, continues to pound the Austrian positions with terriffic bombardments. The trenches melt like snow under the increasing shelling and the most terrible slaughter goes on. The Austrians at one time had fifteen battalions at the summit of San Gabriele area. There has rarely been such lavish, intensive killing as the defenders of San Gabriele have undergone. General Capello, commenting on the big Austrian forces on the mountain, said: "They are still there; mostly dead! n AUSTRIANS ASSERTIVE. SAY THEY STOPPED ITALIANS. [Aust. and N.Z. An Austrian official message dated September 12th claims that the Italian offensive has been a failure and declares tho Italian losses to be 230,000, including 20,000 prisoners.
