Furniture Burned.

(Per Press Association.) GORE, Last Night. A serious fire is reported at Waikaia under unusual circumstances. W. N. Bond's furniture was being conveyed from Argyle station (which has been sold by him) to Switzers railway station by a traction engine. Possibly a spark from an engine ignited the waggon. The whole consignment was much damaged. There was no time lost 'in running the furniture into a stream, but with little effect. Some of the furniture, which was much prized, consisted of heirlooms. The total damage is said to have been in tse vicinity of £BOO. Whether the furniture was covered by insurance is unknown.
