PATRIOTIC SOCIETY OR PATRIOTIC CITIZEN.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Many will be pleased to have read Mr E. 11. Crabb's letter in, your Saturday's issue. He always has something to say, when he speaks, and he says it well; but, like all men with political aspiration, he wraps the blow in. tissue paper to soften it. As for the l anonymous scribes who pose as the representatives of our brave and deserving lads, just let these chaps come forward and state their case, manfully, or better still, join the society and help us to help their mates. There is another kind of unpatriotic scribe whose comparative hoard commands some degree of attention for his utterance, but his inaction should %ery seriously discount his opinions—--1 refer to the correspondent who took occasion to air his opinion about the Anzae Club by saying that he objected to the Patriotic Society '"hoarding money." In the first place, his information is faulty to a degree, for, thanks to such as criticisel, but neither contribute nor work for the" society, our funds are going out faster than they come in. General Grant said: "No man may criticise me who will not shoulder a musket. '' Our rule affords a wide* scope, and the man who avoids it cannot even be compared with Grant's, nonflghter. We say, "No man's opinion is worth a i\j; ..'.:o will not fight for us, works for us, or contribute to our funds."—! am, etc., J.H.S.
