During the gale on Saturday, H. Hill, a farmer of Pleasant Valley, lost by fire a wool shed and his clip (be finished shearing on Fiiday), pigs and other valuables. Among local dr.mage by the gale the scraping sheds at the racecourse were stripped of roofing and the tote house was shifted some inches, its capsize being prevented by propping. The Hon. J. Anstey's house at Kingsdown was partly unroofed.

The weather records shew that last month was the driest September for at least 20 years. Ther3 were only 1(; points and the average for the month is 205 points.
