Suffragettes placed a gunpowder bomb under the valve house of the Dewsbury leservoirs at Penistone. The fuse just failed. If it had exploded the damage would have been tremendous as it would have been impossible to stop the flow of water.

After a chase through England, Scotland and Wales, Lilian Lenton, the hunger-striker, has been re-arres-ted for firing the pavilion at Kew, in 1913. She was frequently disguised.
