Received 5.20 p.m. LONDON, March 31. t 7 An explosion of a benzine tank at Vardman and Holder's chemical works at Manchester resulted in the destruction cf seven acres of the works. Two hundred police kept the crowds back. There were many explosions of creosote and napthaline. Sulphuric acid flames shot up 100 feet high. The debris hurled upwards and the flames made it most difficult for the firemen to work. Thousands of gallons of sulphuric acid were turned into the street sewers for safety. The damage amounts to thousands. The factory workmen escaped through the windows. *
