THE METRIC SYSTEM.
APPLIED TO JEWELS, By Electric Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Times. —Sydney Sun Service.) Received 5.20 p.m. LONDON, March 31. An Order-in-Council ordains that a metric carat of 200 millogrammes shall be the legal standard of the weight of jewels. This is regarded as the beginning of a new era in the system of weights and measures.
