MEXICAN TROUBLE.
BATTLE OF TORREON. By Electric Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. Times. —Sydney Sun Service. MEXICO CITY, March 24. It is reported that General Villa is driving the Federals back upon Torreon. Received 10.15 p.m. MEXICO CITY, March 24. Torreon battle has begun. General Villa captured an outside position and furious cannonading is proceeding. The whole of the surrounding country is protected w'th wire entanglements. Villa reports the capture of 300 prisoners. BENTON'S DEATH. Received 10.15 p.m. WASHINGTON, March 24. Mr Percival, British Consul, further reports that Benton disregarded the advice of his wife and friends and visited General Villa unarmed. A scuffle occurred in Villa's office and j perfect quiet followed. The body i later was remcved. The Consul infers that Benton was stabbed. He does not state who did it, but it is thought likely that it was done by one of Villa's officers
