THE LAST LIFT.

Salvage operations on Devon were practically cempleted on Saturday, when the Ferry Company's steamer Awaroa brought two motor cars and a quantity of piping and harvester machinery back to the wharf. To secure t! e re mainder of the cargo, the services of a diver will be jequired. It is however, generally thought that t' e cargo which is left i« tse holds is bey cmd salving. The Awaroa broug- t two of tbe Devon's lifeboats back with I er last eveoiDg. The diver who was engaged by Mr A. Walker (Lloyd's lep esentative) has finishei investigation of the vessel's i ull, and a report will be forwaided to London. No date has yet- been fixed for the rehearing of the marine enquiry into the wreck.
