THE HIKURANGI MINE.

WATER FLOODING IN. (Presa Association. —By Telegraph. Whangarei, Last Night. In regard to the flooding of the Northern Coy. 's Mine at Hikurani, Mr Tattlev, the manager, wanted the water reduced by nearly 22 feet. Progress is slow, and has only been reduced by 2 feet in the last 24 hours.

There is still sixty-nine feet of water in the shaft. It is expected it will be a week before the mine ia clear.

The water is leaking through the wall half-way between the face and the shaft and confirms the opinion that the Hot Springs or the Hikurangi swamp have not been touched.
