OUR BATTLESHIP.

A DAY FOR MANAWATU,

Arrangements for a fitting reception to the battle cruiser New Zealand, now on her way from Durban to Melbourne, are well in hand. It has been decided that certain days should be set aside on which school children from the Wairarapa and Manawatu- districts should visit the ship, the object being to avoid clashing and over-crowding. The Wellington City Council has decided to grant the use of the Town Hall at reduced cost for the Navy League ball on April 15th. Efforts are being made to arrange a mass chorus of children to sing patriotic songs on attendant craft as the New Zealand comes up the harbour. Meanwhile the precise date of the vessel's arrival will not be known till she leaves Melbourne for Wellington. It may be a little later than April Bth.
