It is requested that the lists not yet returned be sent in by Monday. A meeting of the committee will probably be held on Monday night. The Druids gave a nomplimentaiy conversazione to the members of the Palraerston Fire Brigade competition team in the Oddfellows' Hall. Over 80 couples were presont. A progressive euohre tournament was first held, Miss Lowiß winning the ladies' and Mr Hill the men's prize. Tho music for the dance was supplied by Mr P. 0. Hanley, and Bros. J. A. Nash and G. Langford .contributed extras. Miss Pyoroft and Mr Clement contributed several songs, and Master MoDowall danced a Highland Ming during the evening.

Drunkenness was responsible for a number of appeal ances at the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, when Messrs W, Beok and G. Woodroofo ocoupied the Bench. A first offonder who was found' drunk in Broad street on the previous night was fined 7s Cd and costs 12s Gd. A woman, who was an old offender, was fined 12a for being in a similar condition in London street. Olaude Watson was fined £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, for having been drunk aud demonstrative in Broad street. The official results of the looal option poll taken last November were gazetted last night. The number of ■' eleotors on the 101 l was 587,003, and' the' number of valid votes recorded was 414,292; The number of votes... for oontinuanoo (including tho votes for restoration of licenses in previ- ( ous no-license districts) was 188,140, for reduotion 102,562 and for nolicense (including votes against re* storation in previous no-lioense distriots), 221,471. The two most serionß offences dealt with at the Magistrate's Oonrt yes* terday morning were gross indeoenoy and theft. Wm., Joyce, who was oonvioted of having oommitted the former offence in the Square, pleaded that he was drunk. His sentence was six months' imprisonment. Edw&rd Thos. Gridley admitted the theft of a suit of clothes valued qt £5 10s from a man named Baker at Anderson's boarding-house. There were previous oonviotions against him and he was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
