TUBERCULOUS PIGS.

The revelations which we published yesterday regarding the alarming extent to which tuberculosis has spread amoritf pigson this coast have excited considerable comment. There is a great deal of profit in the pig industry, properly managed, but it is evident that our farmers are not properly managing it or thisJort of thing would not be. One of the best authorities on pork that we have had in this country—tho man who introduced the "mild cure" into New Zealand—was wont to say that the most profitable thing on the farms should be the .pigs, but that they should be paddock fed, and the farmer should regularly ciop for them. He regarded it as quite a mistake not to grow pig feed, and not to " top off" on hard feed. With t'he milk that goes to the pigs sterilised, with' paddock room, and with good grown feed pigs ought to be as healthy here and as ; profitable as anywhere in the world.
