There -was a large attendance for

the third day of the V.R.O. Autumn Meeting, which was held to-day in oppressive weather. Results Autumn Hurdles, 800 govs, added; 8 miles.—Alert Dream 1, Atinga 2, The Kibble 3, Won by half a length. Time, 5.41%. Ascot Vale Stakus, of ?50 sovs. added; 6 furlongs,—Sunny South 1, Mala 2, Barm 8. Wou by one and threequarter lengths. AUSTRALIAN GUP; of 1250 sovs (added); 2% miles. Mr H. Power's b.o Pendil. by Bobadil—Penitence, 3yrs, 7.1 1 Mr M. Dutch's br.o. Delemla, by San Franoisoo—Cast Steel, 6.7 ... 2 Mr G. F. Moore's br.h. Signor, by Pigrim's Progress-Ma Mie Rosette, 4yrs., 9.4 ... 3 Hon. A. Wynne's br. c. Five Grown, by Grafton-Apple-woman, Byrs., ... 4

Signor, Flavel, Somnambulist, Pendil ana Dyed Garments were last into the Btraight for the first time. Delenda forged ahead on tho ontside. The field closed up at the riverside, Liittle Lad and Plavel leading together by a length. Pendil improved his position at the bridge and ran into second place. Dyed Garments and Nushka each put in a fast ran ronnding the torn and then a most exoiting raoe commenced, -Pendil in the centre field lod with Delenda challenging on the ontside of the field, but Pendil, well ridden, got home by half a length, Signor two lengths away third, and Five Grown fourth. Time, 4.0%. i Maroh Steeplechase, 250 sovs., added; 2 miles.-Cororoit 1, Player 2, Wolseley 8. Won in a oanter by six lengths. Time, 4.10%. Bourke Handicap, 500 sovs., added;

7 furlongs —Maltline 1, True Scot 2, Moriodißt 3. Won easily by four lengths. Time, 1.26%. Junior Handicap, 250 sovs., added; 6 furlongs,-Sperry 1, Apple Pie 1, Patroualus 8. Won by a length and a half. Time, 1.15%.

THE WANGANUI MEETING.

Tne Autumn Meeting of the Wanganui Jookey Olnb commences to-day when the prinoipal event to be contested will be the Oup. This should be an exceptionally fine raoej and if, as seems likely, the record field of 13 goes to the post, the winner will be hard to select. From present indications the weather will be beautifully fine, and the >pretty little oourse at the river town will be looking at its best. With fine weather, reoord acceptances, and the course in first rate order, 1 a most successful Oup day is assured. Trains leave Pal merston at 6.45 a.m. and 7.10 a.m.

The riders in the Cap are:—All Red, Jenkins; Downfall, Buohanan; Apa, Oliver; MasterDelaval Brown; Tangimoana, F. D. Jones; Bine.Ribbon, Lowe; Advooate, Deeley; Paritutu, Harry Price; Sir Tristram, Wilson; Uhlando, Carroll; Taitoko, Hatoh; Kilmarnook, Ooleman.

FINAL GALLOPS.

(Press Association). Wanganui, Yesterday. There was fine weather again this morning when the final gallops were registered. Parable slipped over six furlongs in 1.19. Her stable mate, Moriarty, knocked three seconds off that time. Exmoor, Tauira, and Waimaria jumped the hurdles separately, all shaping very well. St. Aidan and Sir Tristram galloped six furlongs in 1.18. Moose, Don Carlos, and Mibotahi did a mile in 1.50%, the latter being in front. All Red and Blue Ribbon were assooiated in a mile, cut out in 1,47, the former showing to most advantage. Waihoka did six forlongs in 1.17, and Downfall a mile nicely in 1.47. Apa went ttoioe round at a strong paoeon the plough, and looks partionlarly well. Tangimoana, Taitoko Roosevelt, Master Delaval, and Advooate did.servioeable work.
