Mr and Mrs S. Caruell celebrated their golden wedding at Napier on Sunday. It is said that Mr Geo. Hunter, of Poraugahau, will contest the Pahiatua seat in the Opposition interest. The Minister for Lands is to pass through Palmerston to-day en route to Ohingaiti where he is to be banquetted. Dr. Mason, the able President of tho Board of Health, visited Euunythorpo yesterday in conuection with the question at issue with the Kairauga County Council in regard to the Dried Milk Factory. Sir Wm. aud Lady Russell were in Palmerstou yesterday on their way home from Waugauui. Sir William regards his chance of recovering his lost electorate (now hold by Mr Dillon, M.P.) as good.
