A ROUND TRIP.
FROM WELLINGTON TO AUCKLAND.
A party of fonr comprising Messrs Dempsey (3).>and'L. Jackson, all of "Wellington, arrived in Palmerston last evening; and stayed the night at the Club Hotel. ■ The party informed a "Times" ■> representative th&'t they left Welling- a ton on New Year's Eve, inMrM. | Dempsey's 16 h.p. Reo car, via ? Napier, Tatipo, Rotorua, to Attck- [ land, "returning via Te Awamutu, Te Kuiti, Mokau, Waitara, on,the New Plymoath route. This was. the fourth car to travel from Auckland to New Plymouth, and the first to make the round trip. The party l , had splendid weather every day, and the trip proved pleasant and enjoyable. In the King country- it was especially interesting. Travelling- this side of Te Kuiti the master, of' one of the schools dismissed his scholars to allow them to see their first car. All through the country the>settfciers were crying out for ;rain, and everything was in a scorched' condition. Intending motorists who might venture this round trip will have no difficulty at any of; the small! townships in being -supplied with benzine. The roads from Wellington to Napier were good; Napier to Taupe*, rough, heavy and billy; Rotorn* to Auckland, fair wath sandy- and bumpy patohes; I&mahere to Atorahanga, good; Aiorahanga to> Te Kuiti, heavy andjlrilly; Te Kuiiti toMokau, hilly" and; rough with, stretches of good; Mokau to Palmerston, very good. Hie party leave Palmerston to-day en route for Wellington. The party anticipates going the trip in another few weeks, having been much impressed with the country and scenery. /
