ANOTHER PIONEER GONE.
THE REV. J. O. ANDREW
DEAD.
Per Press Association. Masterton, Sunday. The death occrurred on Saturday morning of the Rev. J. C. Andrew, owner of lea station, Tβ Nui. Deceased was born in 1822, and came to the Dominion from England in 1856. Mr Andeiw % purchased lea station in 18C6. He acted for many years as Minister of the Distriot and waa twice returned to Parliament.
[Mr John Chapman Andrew, who was an M.A. of Oxford, and fellow of Lincoln College, began his colonial experience with exploration of the Southern Alps and the McKenzie Country, and settled for nine years on a Waitakl sheep run before coming north to the wild Wairarapa in 1866. He called the run he took-up there, and has ever since held, by his own initials. It consists of 19,000 acres bounded by sea and the Whareama River and was noted for its Romneys and its polled Angus cattle. Mr Andrew, who took, a keen "interest in public affairs, was a member of the first Road Board and County Council, and the first Wellington Education Board, and was vice-chairman of the New Zealand University which he assisted to found].
