NO WOOL SOLD,

Gisborne, December 5,

Tho local wool sales to-day were very disappointing, sellers and buyers' ideas of value being far apart. Not a bale was sold, growers preferring to export to London. The highest price offered for fleece crossbred was sevenpence.

Abrahams and Williams ,Lfcd., report :—At Palmerston on Thursday ■we again had a heavy yarding of cattle, close on 600 head being offered consisting chiefly of female stock and young steers. The demand for young steers was not quite as keen as it has been recently but a fair value was offered in most cases. Quiet 18 mos. and 2-year heifers sold readily as did also fat and store cows. Competition for all classes of sheep was good and the following are prices realised:— Ewes and lambs 23s to 255; forward

ewes 16s; fat wethers 17s 3d; fat ' ewes and wethers 15s 8d; forward ■ wethers 10s 3d to 16s sd; 2-tooth wethers 143 3d; 3-year bullocks £5 10s; 2-year empty heifers £2 15s to £2 18s 6; 18 roos. and 2-year old heifers £2 6s to £2 12s; 15 mos. heifers 34s 6d; yearling heifers 255; forward cows £2 10s to £2 14s 6d; light fat cows £3 12s 6d to £4 10s; cows and calves £2 12s 6d; store cows 85s to £2 6s; springing cows £4 17s 6d to £6; 15 mos. steers and heifers £2 12s ; bulls £3 10s to £5 7s

The NeTT Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Ltd. report as follows:—At Palmerston on Thursday we had a good yarding of cattle, but only two pens of sheep came forward. Although several lines were passed in at auction we were success ful in placing the bulk of our entry at satisfactory prices. Quotations: —Sheep, 2th. ewes 17s. Cattle, forward 3-year heifers £3 3s 6d, cows with calves £2 15s to £3, store cows £2 to £2 Us, fat cows £4 5s to £4 13, yearling steers £2; 3-year old bullocks £5 12s 6d, forward bullocks £6 os.

Messrs Dalgety and Coy., Ltd., report on their Palmerston sale of the sth inst. as follows:—We had an exceptionally good yarding of cattle and a good entry of sheep. There was a keen demand for yearling to 18 mos. steers and also for empty Leifers and empty cows. The following were the prices realised:—lß to 20 mos. steers £3 7s; yearling steers medium sorts £2 9s 6d; yearling steers culls 245; cows with calves 435; small heifers with calves-40s; empty cows £2 5s 6d; forward' heifers £3 lls; small srpinging heifers £2 15s; 15 mos empty heifers Zle ; bulls 34s to 435; 3-year bnllocks £5 7e 6d. In sheep our entry consisted of wethers, ewes and lambs. Mixed aged ewes with lambs at foot realised 25s to 25s 3d.

Messrs Dalgety & Company, Ltd., report a good yarding of both sheep and cattle at their Marton r sale held on the 3rd iust. A good Pdemand existed for all classes of stock, ■which sold as follows ■.—Woolly lioggets mixed sexes 19s, shorn 2tDoth wethers, small, 12s 10d; sfcorn 2-tooth ewes, medium, 15s lid, 2)4 to 0-year steers £4 2s, 2-year steers £3 3s 6d, £3 os and £3 17s; yearling steers £2 9s 6d, 3-year empty-heifers £2 19s, 2-year empty heifcrs £2 2s, 15-months to 20-months empty heifors 26s to 30s, empty cows £2 83, old bulla £3 15s,
