Received Dec. 2, 10.52 p.m. Morocco, Dec. 2.
Details of the fight at Menasseh show that 3500 of the Benis Hassen tribe at Agabal, Morocco, entered Algeria and attacked an elevated fort at Sidi Assa in the viciuitv of Babel Assa in which were contingents of different tribes, a portion of the French foreign legion accompanying the Tirailleurs, a section of a battery of mountain artillery and a squadrou of Spahis. The attack was exceptionally vigorous and well sustained and was repulsed with great gallantry. Whole lines of tribesmen attempting a flanking movement, were mown down by the guns posted on tiie heights. One hundred and thirty-six shells were fired. The Benis Hassen returned to Aghbal, but their provisions and ammonition are rather short. A large Atlai tribe from the Algerian side joined the Biens Hassen, but the arrival of French reinforcements reassured the border population.
