Wellington, Last Night. The Arbitration ■ Court delivered awards to-day in disputes concerning the Typographical Union, cooks and stewards, and bookbinders.
The cooks and stewards' award is practically an enlargement and elaboration of the old agreement between' the men and the Union Company, the conditions being made plainer and remodelled for more even working. As regards the small shipowners their agreement with the employees, which was handed in during the hear* ing o! the case is the award with the alteration that the stewards are not to work over eight hours in port. The award holds good for two yearn from May Ist. The bookbinders' award is much the same as the existing award f only minor alterations being made. In the typographical case, in which the award is till April 24th, 1906, the linotypers 1 wages are £3 6s for day, and £8 12s for night of seven hours. Other conditions are very much" on the lines of the previous award. The Court has fixed no piece rate for monolines, but reserves the right to do so in & supplementary award.
The monoline award was fixed at £8 for day work and £3 6s for night work.
