HUTT RAILWAY.
Delay In Completion
Mlp Duthie Speaks Out.
Press Association
Wellington, Last Night. The opinion was expressed by Mr Duthie, M.H.R., at the Chamber ot Commerce meeting to-day, that the straightoning of the Hutt railway line had little chance of being completed within the next fifteen or twenty years. He thought this a matter in which the Chamber might take the initiative and get the improvement of the iine taken up as a speculation and coming to terms with the Government on the matter. Speaking at the Hutt recently, the Premier had said the Government had allocated money for the lino, and the delay was due to a draughtinab. If that was really bo he hoped the Government would push on the work, but failing which, he advocated private enterprise doing it. It was of great importance to the city; there was money in it, and if the Government did not see its way to do the work, money could be found amongst the citizens of Wellington for the purpose.
