Received September 29, 0.83 a.mi ,* New York, Yesterday! * The four-masted barque Clifford, which left Newcastle, Australia, X for 'Frisco on ;july 12th'coal laden, went ashore in a thick fog, bumping heavily, near 'Frisco. It is feared she will become a total loss. The crew were saved. Tokio, Yesterday. The Messageries Maritimes steamer Australien, recently transferred from the Australian to the China and .Japan service, outward bovnd from Marseilles, is .ashore at lmaharu Isle, off Shikoku, Japan. The Passengers are safe. Assistance has been sent for.
