Press Association—Copyright. Beceived September 28,12.30 a.m. Sydney, Last Night. A strong southerly gale with heavy rain has been raging all day and continues unabated. The rain is general, and very heavy in the northern districts. Eight inches fell at Baymond Terrace. The river Hunter is rising rapidly. The lowlands have already been flooded. The settlers are removing stock and the storekeepers goods in anticipation of a high flood. „ Nelson's Bay reports that a large iron sailing vessel wen) ashore at iftdrna Point at four this afternoon. One boat reached land. N,o lives were losf.
