(Own Correspondent.) Feilding, Saturday. The committee of the Feilding Athletic Club me.t last evening to discuss the programme fqr $he cqim'ng sportB 1 meett mg, It was decided to strike out unprofitable events aud substitute others; also to increase the prize money by £27. A special feature of the meeting will be a school championship competition among the schools in the Wanganui Education Board district, for a Cup. Messrs D. H. Guthrie and W. Jackson will bo candidates for the seat ou the Kiwitea County Council lately vacated by the retirement of Mr Jackson. The bot fly trouble is again in evidence in this district. Yesterday Mr Trewena, the well-known coach proprietor, lost one of his valuable horses through the flies. A sheep farmer in the district reports that as regards lambing, the season has been most favourable. The percentage of lambs in every case has been exceptionally * good aild at)oye the pre.yjqus season. Several farmers are about to commence shearing operations.
