Abraham and Williams

Since our /last weekly ; report sales ; have been hold ■* at,:'Danneyirke, Pahiatua, Shannpu, Otaki, and Palmerston.. ; At JUannevlrke last Friday, we" had a; fvery, large eutry of • cattle, and several pines'of sheep came forward. Cattle. :buyers were in attendance, but their ideas of values were not in accord with, vendors' reserves, and as a result the ■majority of the pens were passed in 'under the hammer.; Business, however, privately was brisk, and.the bulk of the younger cattle changed hands.! ''; \ At Woodville on Monday the entry was confined to a moderate yarding of cattle, the usual amount of business resulting. At Pahiafcua on Tuesday Mr Gordon ■Eliotfc i kindly officiating, stock came forward ih excess of advertised numbers, especially cattle, a very full yarding being submitted, the quality on the ■whole being above the average. The [attendance was large, Including .buyers | from a distance. Business under.'the hammer was brisk, a keen demand for :: all classes of stock being experienced, and a sound healthy tone prevailing throughout the sale. All the sheep were disposed of at auction, and also the : bulk of the cattle. The few pens passed were subsequently disposed of by priIvate treaty, and with the exception of one or two small lots we have to report a total clearance. . | : At Shannon on Tuesday the yards , were well filled, and there was a good attendance. Bidding was brisk, and a good clearance was effected, with the ' • exception of backward heifers, for which high prices were wanted. At Otaki on there was a good demand for all classes of stock, and the tram horses offered also sold well, averaging about £16. At Palmerston on Thursday the entry was below the average and consisted principally of female stock.. Guaranteed dairy cows and heifers near calving sold well.
