It having been freely reported that the Government did not intend to pro* ceed with the purchase of a portion of the Mount Vernon estate, near Waipawa, ■ for settlement purposes, as previously announced, MrC. Hall, M.H.R., yesterday wired to the Premier asking if such was the case, bui received a reply stating: i that the Government intended to go on with the purchase. The Education Board to-day cenfimied the establishment of a District Hi"h School at Dannevirke. It is expected that between 30 and 40 pupils will be available for higher education af the Daimevirlvc South School. With' the South School fairly established, ~ood support is expected from Woodville.°
