Dannevirke, Monday, On Saturday evening a heavy downpour of rain was experienced here, accompanied by thunder and lightning. One flash of lightning, exceptionally vivid, struck a child named Robburgh, aged 11 years, at Tamaki, near Dannevirke. The child's left side Avas paralysed for somo time, but is hoav recovering. Auckland, Monday. The Rev Father James Mcintosh, Roman Catholic priest of Parnell parish, was found dead in his bedroom. At the inquest, it Avas ascertained that death was due to sjmcope, the result of hemorrhage and exhaustion from vomiting. Haavera, Monday. A child named Voitrekofsky, aged between three and four years, was drowned in a Avell yesterday. Deceased and his little brothers and sisters Avere playing around a well, Avhich is 80 feet deep, Avith fifteen feet of Avater in it. Avhen they removed a heavy case Avhich covered a small opening and the little fellow fell in. Nearly an hour elapsed before the body Avas recovered, and efforts at resuscitation failed.
