MARKET REPORT.
Harry Palmer reports as follows : — Notwithstanding our increased accommodation, overy pen ay.is taxed to the utmost, and our usual market was a very animated one. The demand for good young hens and pullets is good. We quote as folloAvs:—Young hens, Leghorns and other good laying strains, 2s 9d to 3s Cd; pullets, 3s to 4s 6d; half gi-OAvn cockerels, poor demand, ls 6d to 2s 4d; table cockerels, mixed fowls, from 2s 4d to 2s lid; chicks, ls to Is Gd; ducklings, 2s 9d to 3s 3d; prime ducks, 4s to 4s 4d; other sorts, 3s 6d to 4s. In pigs, wo had a good entry coming forward, and prices shoAved no tendency to drop ; in fact, were better than previously quoted, and with the exception of one pen, the quality Avas excellent. Weaners, 10s to 10s 9d; slips, 16s 9d to £1 ; forward slips, £1 to _£1 6s. A largo quantity of potatoes were sold under the hammer, at prices from 5s 6d to 7s 6d per cwt, according to sample, Avhich A-aried considerably. Apples from ls to 2s Gd per half caso ; raspberries, 4d per lb. We are now booking orders for raspberries, Avhole and in pulp ; red currants, 3s per case ; onions, Id jper lb.
