A Narrow Escape.

Doneoin, July %. There was another railway accid eat this forenoon, about a mile and a vaa!f north of Ssacliff, and it is surprising th« consequences were not more serious.

After leavinp • the cutting to round the wide curve, tb.e driver apparently noticed that the truck was off, and put on tbe brakes. 7^6 momentum caused the train to baokle and the first carriage plunged dow?j the embankment, pulling tho rrexfc carriage half off the line, and also two of the intermediate truoks in front, which fell on their sides, one wheel mounting the platform of the carriage, and smashing the ironwork. The carriage through at an angle of -45 degrees', did not fall over.

There were about 20 passengers on the train, and their first intimation of clanger was finding the train going over the embankment.

Fortunately all escaped with only » severe shaking, with the exception of a young man who was thrown off the rear of the platform and was- bruised, ani two girls, who.received a severe shaking.
