(Press Association.—Copyright.) London, September 28. On the 26th instant the enemy in orce under General Botha, attacked he forts of Itala and Prospect, on tho Zululand border. The garrisons gallantly repelled the raiders and inflicted heavy loss on them. J A Reuters message states that the defenders lost one man killed and nine wounded. Details of the Vlakfontsin affair sbow that the British intended to captura a party of fifty roving Boers, and the guQ3 opened fire at 200 yards. On the Boers surrounding -the British, and encircling them with a brisk rifle fire, the breech-block of one gun, with- the belongings of both were destroyed, and the breech-block of he second gun was buried before the force surrendered. Lord Kitchener reports that Lieut. h. H. M. 0. Miers, of the Somerset Light Infantry, who is attached to the Constabulary at Riverskraal, went on the 25th inst. to meet three x>oeiv, who were approaching under a white &<ig. Alter a short conversation the Boers were seen to shoot Miers dead and gillop off. TDe following honors, dated November 29th, 1900, have been conferred on New Zealanders --Dis tinsmshed Conduct medal, Private O. .x^.rnes ; Bearer of the Royal R--d Gr:)s^, Sist-ar Williamson. Many Australians have- received simiiav honours. Major Earaes. of the New South Wales Medical Corps, has been made a Companion of the Bdtb. Colonel Kekewich, operating northwest of Rustenburg, in tha western Transvaal, captured 35 Boers, GO horses, 30 rifles arid five waggons full of clothing. A train "was accidentally derailed at Standerton. Six Dragoon Guards were killed and thirty-six injured. Those prisoners who have been permanently banished are Botha, late Landdrost of Pretoria, FieldCornets Botha, Hugo, Meuwhondt and Dv Plessis, Captains Oliver, Cotzee, Coos and Eruger, and Adjutant Vanderlinde.
