VOLUNEER NOTES.

[By Bdllseye.|

Forty five members of the Palmerston Noifch Rifles paraded at the DriH shed last evening under Captain Mouosev and Lieutenant Louisson. After some evolutions in Jto hall had been performed, the corps was inarched out, aud the results attained were of an exceedingly beneficial nature. On returning to the ba.-acks, tbe new magazine rifles were served to the members.

A military route marching competition, open to all corps in the Wellington garrison, has been organised, and the contest, for which about 20 (earns have entered (over half of which are expected to start>, will take place at Wellington on October sth next. Why not organise a similar contest between Rifles and Guards, say half companies, for an early date.
