Salvation Army.
There was a largo attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening, when a lecture, compiled by Commandant Bojth, descriptive cf the rescue and social work of the Salvation Army, and illustrated by limelight and bioscope views, was given. Mrs Adjutant Hutchinson acted as lecturer, and iv graphic language described the various phases of the Army's social operations and the noble efforts that religious organisation are putting forth to uplift fallen humanity.
Excellent kinetnatographio pictures depicting life on the Bayswater estate (an industrial farm for boys), scenes in connection with General Booth's last visit to the Australian colonies, rescue officers visiting tho slums and attending police Courts, men employed in the labour yards, carpenters' shop, boot and shoe repairing department and also mat, mattress and toy making, and boys and girls at drill, were thrown on the screen. A large number of limelight portrait or the various ro .cue homes and indusa_ii establishments in Australia and New Zealand, Leagues of Mercy, General Booth and prominent Army leaders, wero also shown. Adjutant Bensley was in churge of the mechanical apparatus, while Mrs J. Foster presided at the piano.
