TO THE EDITOB. Sib,— Iwishtocallyourattentiontothe state of ditches on the Rangitikeiline. Itis nearly five years since they were made, since then there has never been a shovel put m them to clean, them out.. I see Dr Johnston and some of the leading men of Feilding are^stu dying the health of -the people m that district ; surely some one will take Jhe, matter up here,
as tKe summer Trill soon be m, and the smell that comes out of the ditches is very bad. We know that the Council keeps a man to clean the horse-dung off the road, whilst the drains are neglected. Our member drives along the road every day,' and there is not a man m New Zealand who knows inqre about road making than he does. This makes us wonder why he does not take notice of the state of things himself . Ido not think there is any occasion to send to Sandon for an overseer ■when there are plenty here who know as much about road making as Mr Prisk ;, for we know the wants of the place better, and could, perhaps, remedy them cheaper than a man- living m Sandon. — I am, &c, " .
