to thb^bditOe. Sib, — You have a letter m your impression of this day's date, signed " Humanity," m which he says that it has been his lot to witness the most painful scene he has met with for many a day. 1 He saw a poor unfortunate dog yoked to a truck m which two children were riding, one 3 years old, the other 13. The latter was whipping the .poor dog most cruelly, "and it appeared as if the poor dog would drop every moment. "* Now instead of interfering with what does not concern him, and instead of hiding his name under the signature of "Humanity," if he would take the trouble to make'inquiries he would, find that there was no cruelty used towards the dog m any way, of which I am the owner. — I am, &c, ' John Fbancis. Palmerston Norjh, Bth Aug., 1877.
