“BUTCHER OF LIDICE”
FRANK AWAITS TRIAL
(Rec. 10.10 a.m ) LONDON, Dee. 28. Frank,- “the Butcher of Lidice,” is convinced at last that Nazism is dead but still believes that Germany must have some other mission, says the Associated Press correspondent at Prague. * Frank said, “I cannot believe the Supreme Being Germany should vanish from the face of the earth.”
Cut off from the world in prison where he .awaits trial as Czechoslovakia’s number one war criminal, Prank does not even know the Nazi leaders are being tried at Nuremberg, but he is freely critical of the causes of the Nazi downfall. He said their chief error in internal affairs was the system of dictorship which led people away from true nature and made possible concentration camps. He thought, the anti-Semitic methods were a complete mistake but expressed the opinion that the German people did not want the Jews controlled. Frank, when asked if he considered the Czechs would be justified in obliterating a German village in revenge for.Lidice, replied: “No, that would not be justified by the laws of humanity-”
