BLIND SOCIAL CLUB
Experiences in Japan, including firsthand information on the atomic bomb, were related by Mr Berry, of H.M.S. Gambia, at the monthly social of the Blind Social Club, at which there was a large attendance of disabled and elderly people. A welcome was extended to the Mr AV. J. Croucher, who lias been ill. A bright programme, arranged by Mesdames D. Watson, AV. H. Loch, Geary and Boon, was given as follows: AMcal solos, Mesdames Nilsson, Loch, Messrs L. AA 7 ood and Bennett, with Mesdames Boon and C. Bowick as accompanists; elocution, Mrs Friend and Judith Kindley; mouth-organ solos, Mrs Brookfield. A talk by Mr Lee on “Great Men and AVomen” was enjoyed. Community singing was lead by Mesdames Carrington and Locli, with Mr F. Caple at the piano. Birthdays were remembered with small gifts, one recipient, having reached the great age of 92. Arrangements were made for .the December meeting, which is to take the form of a Christmas party and Christmas tree. At the conclusion of the afternoon committee members escorted the guests to their homes.
