ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
Mr . A. E. Mansford presided at the annual meeting of the Manawatu Centre’ of the St. John Ambulance Association, when delegates were present from Palmerston North,. Feildnlg, Eketahuna, and Woodville. As Mr E. Jackson, last year’s chairman, did not seek re-election on account of his health, it was decided to forward him a letter expressing the centre’s appreciation of his work for the centre since its formation and to wish him the best of health in the future. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr Mansford; vice-presi-dents, the presidents of sub-centres, also Messrs T. L. Seddon, A. J- Kellow. H. M. Scott, F. Jackson, H. H. Podmore, Miss E. D. Warburton,' and one other to be nominated by the Levin Sub-Centre; hon. auditor, Mr G. G Priest; chairman of centre committee. Mr C. Hausmann; vice-chairman, the president of the Levin Sub-Centre. The second annual report - stated that during the year applications were received from Wooaville and Eketahuna for admission to the centre, and sub-centres had been constituted with headquarters in those towns. During the year 220 certificates were issued in respect of 18 examinations conducted by the sub-centre. The financial statement disclosed a satisfactory cash balance in the bank.. It was pointed out, however, that the centre had no substantial regular source of revenue, and therefore it would be incumbent on the incoming committee to give this matter its urgent consideration.
