CYCLE ROAD RACE

Cycling of a high standard was seon in the Palmerslon North to Wanganui road race, held on Saturday afternoon over a course of 47 miles. Individual placings were: J. Picknell (Wellington, 16min.), lhr. 48min. 48£sec,'1: D, Hault (Feilding, 16min,), lhr. 48min. 52sec, 2; N. Rodgers (Feilding, 16min.), lhr. 49min. 46see., 3. R. Dutton (Wellington), off scratch, mado fastest time and established a new record, clocking lhr. 41min. 18sec. T. Philpot and D. Adams (both of Wanganui), and backmarkers, also beat the previous record, taking lhr. 41min. 18 1-lOsec. and lhr. 41min. 18 l-ssec. respectively. There were 21 starters.
