MARKET REPORT
The Dominion Auctioneering Coy. Ltd., report receiving an exceptionally large entry of pigs at their weekly sale, close on 400 being penned. There was a good bench of buyers and a total clearance was made at satisfactory prices. Light baconcrs realised to £4, porkers to £3 Bs, heavy stores to £3 and weaners to £1 17s. Poultry also came forward in large numbers, the whole entry being disposdd of under keen competition. Ihere was the usual supply of fruit and produce. Quotations: Pigs.— Best weaners, 30s to 375; sma:l to medium, 21s to 295; slips, to 38s; heavy stores, £2 16s to £3; medium, £2 7s to £2 15s; small, £2 to £2 ss : light porkers, £3 Is to £3 8s; light baconers, £4; boars, £3 3s. Poultry.—Heavy hens, 7s 7d to 9s Id; medium, 6s to 7s 4d; light, 4s 4d to 5s 3d; heavy cockerels, 7s lOd to 8s 7d; medium, 6s to 6s lOd; small, 3s to 4s 6d ; clucks and drakes, 6s 4d to 10s; roosters, 5s to 6s 7d; pullets, 7s 6d to lis 6d; cockerel chicks, to 2s 6d box. Produce—Grapefruit, 19s 6d case; tree tomatoes, 8s 6cl to 15s case; passion-fruit, 32s 6d case; cauliflowers, best 14s to 18s sack, others 8s to 10s 6d; cabbages, savoy 20s cwt., drumhead 3s to 4s sack; lettuces, 15.
