RUSSIA AND POLAND.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —Mr Richards has dropped his two Very rash assertions, and produces m their place a typical distortion of something I wrote last September. I overlook his very free rendering of “he has not been a permanent resident of Poland” as “he left Poland” ; and t also overtook the fact that my word* were not in the form of a statement, but were put as a submission inviting contradiction. No doubt tlicse points arc a little fine for a mind capable of absorbing Russian propaganda, incidentally, the contradiction invited was not forthcoming, which in itself is a sound argument for the truth of '.he I submission, if only to quiet Mr Riehj ards’s misgivings, let me say that the submission n; question was based oil a verbal account by Dr. Reifer of some of bis travels, and 1 hope that in this instance at least Mr Richards is satisj lied with both the source and the truth of what I wrote. Mr Sim declines to answer my questions on the grounds that ho is not yet, in possession of a full account of (ho “oviI donee.” This excuse might carry sonic weight if it wore not that nine of the 11 questions. call for no knowledge whatever of the remarkable “evidence” adduced. As I Mr Sim will be unable to reply I will tale ■ this point no further. Sir, I fear Mr Richards has no chance of getting, that order, not even the Third Glass with plain galvanised knobs. However, he should not despair, for if he and his comrades continue their noble effort* I have no doubt they will all be made Hon orary Stakhanoritns of the Great All Soviet Tripe Works. Meanwhile free and democratic Russia, which has no territorial aims whatever, has grabbed Latvia, Lithuania, and Esthonia, half of Poland, a quarter of Czechoslovakia, bits of Finland and Rumania, and a. seaL on the directorate of Hungary, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia. 1 hope that while delving into my past efforts. Mr Richards noted the accuracy of my forecast, made nearly a year ago, that Russia would embark on a policy of imperialist expansion aimed at establishing “a hegemony from Greece to Finland.” Nor will she stop at that, for Turkey, Iran and China still await (ho Russian pistol. Once more, as so often in past ages, the Eastern barbarian seeks to flood across Europe, and this time Poland, long

the bulwark of civilisation, is powerless to atop the flood.—Yours, etc., IMPRIMATUR.
