At a meeting of the 1945 Victory Lor\n Committee on Tuesday Mr K. M. Little was rc-olocted chairman and Mr T. L. Soddon deputy-chairman. Other officers, elected for the prosecution of tho new War Loan campaign were Mr G. J. Fifz.patrick (secretary), Messrs C. A. Oorder. Fitz]>atrick, C. H. Tate. H. Simmonds (publicity committee), Mcsdamcs K. Scott, and R. E. Soddon (Mayoress), R. 11. Buchanan and C. B. McClurc (ladies' committee). Mr Carder stated that tho amount of the loan this year had been calculated bv the Treasury to meet commitments; £10,000,000 was available for the repayment of amounts falling duo to investors in National Savings and such investors would not be asked to reinvest, but, of course, if they wished to do so voluntarily they could. There wore 450.000 National Savings investors and it was anticipated that the contributions to the loan from that source- would be £8,000.000. Mr Little stated that Feikhng an<r district would be required to find £172.000 and it was hop»>d that by the official opening date half that amount would be in hand. Last year Feilding raised £210.000, whereas its" allocation had been £187.000. Those figures showed the capacity of the district to subscribe. Mr Soddon intimated that the country districts would give the loan their full support. This year the district's allocation would not bo divided into areas, said Mr Little; there would be the common pool and all committees would work to acheve the single goal. Mr L. March (Post Office) stated that last year the amount raised by National Savings and bonds was £89,695. Mr Oorcler intimated that this year money available for investment by banking and other large institutions would be "fanned" out to the various districts at the commencement of the loan campaign, whereas last time these large investments were not made known until the close of the campaign. It was resolved that the committee, comprising all present at the meeting, together with Messrs C. E. Taylor, 11. J. Dcivc, D. 11. Mclnness, 11. V. Hubbard, with power to add, should meet every week to submit progress reports. _ Country representatives of the organisation are be Invited to attend the next meeting. Canvassing is to be carried out and the Mayor (.Mr Soddon) suggested that this workshould be conducted thoroughly rather than an effort concentrated on reaching tho half-way mark by tho date of the launching of the loan on May 14.
