CHARGE OF MURDER
AIAORI AVOAIAN’S DEATH.
(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, Alay 7. A Maori sharemilker, Aperahania On ken a, aged 35, stood his trial before Air Justice Callan and a jury in the Supremo Court today on an indictment that he murdered his wife, Alerepaea Orikena, at Alangamuka on January 5. Outlining the ease for the Crown, ALr Aleredith said the evidence would show that on the evening of January 4 a brother of the man on whoso farm accused sharemilked promised to provide beer for a Alaori party after a picture show. There was a good deal oi beer at the party, and some drunkenness. It would be shown that accused s wife acted familiarly with another Alaori, Harvey Gosliorc, and accused was annoyed. Later, another milker saw accused dragging his wife from the river toward the road.
