GERMAN AIRFIELD FOUND
LONDON, Feb. 7
A Dornier 217 going in to land revealed a hitherto unlocated German airfield with grass runways near Padenborn to a New Zealand Tempest squadron, says the Air Ministry. Ihe three pilots, 'Flying-Officer R. D. Bremner, of Taihape, Pilot-Officer C. J. Sheddan of South Canterbury, and FlyingOfficer J H. Stafford, of Rotorua, shot up the Dornier. They say it exploded as it was just about to touch down. Flving-Officer Stafford said: “There were other planes parked there but intense flak following our shooting down of the Dornier prevented us from having a crack at them.
