TWO BALLERINAS

Arriving in Pahnerston North next Saturday with the interesting personalities of the Borovansky Ballet Company are Laurel Maityn and Dorothy Stevenson. Both are responsible for tho arrangement of different ballots in the company's re pertoire in addition to being two of the principal dancers. Laurel Martyn was born in Toowoomba, Queensland,' and when she went abroad in 1933 she joined tho Phyllis Beddc:i School of Ballot in London. Phyllis Beddell was a protege of tho famous Genee, and it was the Adelene Gonoc medal which was won by Laurel Martyn during her later training at tho Royal Academy of Dancing, London. After other successes she became a member of the Vic-Wells Ballet and toured England with the company for three years. Dorothy Stevenson is a daughter of tho Bishop of Grafton and has crowded into her young life a wide variety of experiences. Ballet dancing drew her to lessons in Brisbane with Peggy Chauney, a former pupil of Pru/.ina. Later, when she went to London. Miss Stevenson trained for some years with Pruzina and then joined the Covent Garden Russian' Ballet. Booking for the Palmorston North season of the Borovansky Ballet, December 2, 4 and 5, is now open at Collinson and Cunnintrhnrne, Ltd.
