(1.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan 12 In an attack on Kwajalein Island i in the Marshall Group) navy Liberators bombed six small cargo ships, two of which were sunk and the remainder damaged, says a Pacific fleet communique. The report adds that several buildings and other shore installations were set on fire and two planes damaged on the ground. No fighter interception was encountered. Army heavy bombers bombed Taroa island and Maloelap atoll, starting a number of fires and wrecking two planes on the ground. Another group of Liberators bombed Mili atoll. All our planes returned undamaged. Enemy bombers carried out nuisance raids on. Tarawa, Makin, and Abcmaiua, but caused no damage.
